FAQ
Ektenos is a Greek Adverb which means earnestly, fervently, intensely and the verb that it modifies means to "stretch out the hand.", thus it means to be stretched out -- earnest, resolute, tense. Our organization’s key verse is “LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.’” Mark 12:30 NASB
We believe these to be equal quadrants and equal in value; thus, we offer classes and challenges that stretch out your faith physically, emotionally, spiritually and practically.
We are a group of Christian believers who use the practice of stretching to draw closer to God and our community. We offer land and water classes that challenge you to stretch out earnestly and fervently.
Some people may wonder if it’s okay for Christians to do yoga, and we believe the answer is yes!
There is a misconception that yoga is a religion. But it’s actually a spiritual discipline (like meditation, prayer, fasting or worship). We believe that there is only one God, who exists for all eternity in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. So, we use yoga as a way to connect – heart, soul, mind and strength, with God (Holy Yoga 2023).
May God Himself, The God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together – spirit, soul and body- and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:23 MSG)
YOGA- Yoke Only to God Alone.
Our practice is founded on the Authentic Word of God as revealed in the Bible.
This practice is a modality, a form of recognition and honor for God, developed by experience in order to deepen one’s connection to their Higher Power. The word “yoga” is derived from Sanskrit, a root language and dialect of India. This word directly translates to our English language as “unite" or "yoke.” The sacred practice of yoga was developed to enhance our holiness as we are set apart and devoted to Our Triune God by yoking with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit through heart, mind, body, and soul.
Traditional yoga explores varying avenues to the universal divine spirit and provides opportunities to connect with something larger than self. Christ-centered yoga, however, focuses the heart to be prayerful, intentional, and worshipful towards God as revealed in Jesus Christ.
Of course, we invite all to our classes. Just be aware that our classes will have a Biblical message, worship and prayer integrated throughout the duration of the class. If we partner with a local organization, we keep the message universal and the music instrumental to respect our friends.
